Angiotech Pharmaceuticals is a Canadian specialty medical device and pharmaceutical company focused on technologies for implantable medical devices, surgery, and targeted drug delivery. We became widely known for pioneering the combination of pharmaceuticals with medical devices — particularly through drug-coated stent technology.

Reducing the complications that follow an implant, an incision, or an injury.

Our research emphasises reducing complications associated with implanted medical devices, surgical procedures, and acute injuries by combining pharmaceuticals with innovative device designs. We develop technologies spanning interventional oncology, wound closure, ophthalmology, and the biomaterials used in medical implants.

Our most influential contribution is work on paclitaxel-coated medical devices, helping establish the concept of drug-eluting devices in cardiovascular medicine and influencing later generations of combination medical technologies.
